...and THANK YOU, Tigerbolt. I am one of those non-torrent users and can't express how much I appreciate these nuggets you send our way.

what does charlie do that his shows sound better than others? is it better equipment? or a better ear? i'm just curious, when i see gans, eaton, or miller attached to a show, i get excited. i have no clue about the nuts and bolts of it, was just wondering in lamens terms, what he does that make the shows sound better.

better sources of the actual shows.like actual cassette master, dat master, reels etc..he uses qaulity aud patches also for sbd cuts.he's the sound man for steve kimock.the big thing is the source, the closer you get to the actual vault reels, cassette master etc..the better the sound.remember the more generation between the main source the lesser the qaulity.if you ever heard a twenty generation tape you know what i mean.glad those days are over and we can save the best in shn/flac format for future generation.

Thanks Tiger!!! Soon I will have to breakdown and set up the torrent thing, I'm not sure how much I will be able to appreciate 'lossless' with my wax filled ears but I'm sure someone who listens to the CD's I create will appreciate it.

Anyway I'm currently listening to this day in history Grateful Dead Live at Albuquerque Civic Auditorium on 1971-11-17 which only has one lonely 3 star review. But there is good news as late as the end of the first song (Truckin') there are still 200 tickets available so get your asses down to the Albuquerque Civic Auditorium and giv a listen. For an FM recording it is pretty good, with a strong set list and solid performance.

Well, Goin out sailboat racing now, pretty chilly on the Great South Bay this time of year but always fun!!!

I think the reason 11/17/71 doesn't get much attention is because it's in pretty inferior sound compared to the rest of the tour. The second set is great, though!

11/17/72 is also well worth checking out with a nice '72-style Other One:

And 11/17/73 has a notable palindrome, but since it's not here, here's the next best thing, 11/14/73 with an Other One sandwich:

11/17/74 would've been nice too, if not for that pesky hiatus....
But this one's a fun show:
